Formatowałem każdą znalezioną metodą, poprzez WIN jak i opisaną przez Ciebie.
Tak więc, wszystkie oppisane przeze ze mnie wcześniej problemy, mają miejsce z wersją:
luci-24.10-snapshot-r28026-faebcc61eb-mediatek-filogic-bananapi_bpi-r3-sdcard.
Wgrałem wersję
luci-23.05-snapshot-r24133-33b45c0a0e-mediatek-filogic-bananapi_bpi-r3-sdcard
i jak na razie, nie ma wcześniejszych dolegliwości. Startuje szybko, bez reboo-tów. Jak na razie wszystkie zmiany ustawień, pozostają po reboot.
Testuję dalej.

Może się okazać, że nie koniecznie.

Mam konwerter oparty na CP210x. Jeżeli jest wpięty do BPi-R3, nie startuje MT7986 i nawet nie ma takiej opcji w LUCI. Trochę przegapiłem, że nie jest widoczna ta opcja w menu, bo byłem skupiony na innych ustawieniach.
Może w przyszłości sprawdzę 24.10.
Na ten moment zostawiam tą informację dla potomnych.
1.) Problemy z oryginalnym coolerem FAN 5V z PWM.
Dostałem radiator + fan oryginalny od Sinovoip. W zestawie są tylko dwa thermopady, 4 chipy nie są przewidziane do chłodzenia (moim zdaniem bez sensu jak radiator obejmuje całość powierzchni na wszystkie). Ja postanowiłem zakupić dodatkowe, aby thermopady były na wszystkie chipy, dla zainteresowanych, potrzebne są:
- thermopad 0.5mm np. Gelid GP-ULTIMATE Thermopad 0.5mm 120x20mm 15W/mK
- thermopad 1.5mm np. Gelid GP-ULTIMATE Thermopad 1.5mm 120x20mm 15W/mK
i trzeba je podocinać na wymiar chipów. Są plastyczne i ładnie dolegają po dokręceniu radiatora.Ogólnie bez podłączonego wentylatorka PWM przy takim pasywnym chłodzeniu temperatury nie są złe i urządzenie pracuje stabilnie.
U mnie temperatury wewnątrz przy zamkniętej obudowie i przy pokojowej temperaturze 22.5 st.Mi trafił się uszkodzony wiatraczek w radiatorze. Nie dość, że przyszedł wiatraczek jak na foto poniżej na 12V to wogóle nie działa, jest uszkodzony. Zamówiłem inne (na 5V i 12V) i opiszę uruchomienie z PWM na 5V w złączu 3pin FAN 5V i 12V na złączu SATA (jak dotrą). Wiatraczki są średnicy śmigła 47mm i rozstawem rastera montażowego 39mm x 39mm x 39mm oraz 10mm grubości (jak w kartach VGA).

Trochę odgrzebię temat chłodzenia. Macice jakiś sprawdzony pasujący wiatrak pasujący do "oryginalnego" radiatora ? Mój zaczął "warczeć" na pierwszym biegu, słuchać się nie da.

Sprężone powietrze potem smarowanie WD40 czasami pomaga na miesiąc. Do czasu zakupu nowego powinno wystarczyć.

Jest na 12V i jak jest sprawny to kręci się na ok. 30-40% swoich możliwości (bo BPI-R3 zasila go z 5V) i jest praktycznie bezgłośny i nie ma kłopotu z podłączeniem
. U mnie przy temperaturze pokojowej 22.5 st. C utrzymuje cały czas temperaturę CPU ok. 45 st. C, także jest całkiem dobrze i wystarczająco.

Ja nie powiem jak się ten MT7531AE grzeje bo używam jednego radiatora z wiatraczkiem obejmujący wszystkie scalaki.
Ale jak masz osobny mały radiator dodatkowy to śmiało przyklej ... na pewno nie zaszkodzi ...
@Payti - wiesz jak można zmienić ustawienia by wiatrak włączał się gdy temp. modułu wifi 5Ghz przekroczyła np. 80 stopni? Bo z tego co widzę to wiatrak odczytuje to tylko na wartości z CPU a ten generalnie i tak nie grzeje się jakoś specjalnie nigdy.

Działają poprawnie oba sposoby, nie będę powielał tu opisu, zainteresowani mogą sięgnąć do źródła j/w.
@Corgi poczytaj jak podłączyć wiatraczek inaczej tj. na złącze 4pin SATA lub złącza 12V i sterować go skryptem bash. Opis powyżej w podanym linku. Skrypt musiałbyś sobie zmodyfikować by monitorował temperaturę scalaka WiFi -> sensory: mt7915_phy0-isa-18000000 lub mt7915_phy1-isa-1800000.
Kupiłem już kiedyś ten radiator z wiatrakiem:

nakleiłem termopady przykręciłem i powiem szczerze że działa to dość dziwnie. Jak uruchamia się router to on chodzi na maxa po 4 sekundach gaśnie potem wkleiłem te komendy które podałeś do autostartu:
