Thanks, I will do that. I've just finished opening the router, I'll get the password just in case then install OpenWrt.
I got the password last time and wrote it on a note on my laptop, then deleted it because I didn't think I'd need it again... typical Murphy's law. If I had not deleted the password probably none of this would have happened 
The password is written on a label attached to the router.
On my router (TIM Italy version) the only password written on the label is "admin".
I've just taken the password for Nordic via the serial connection using "nv get admin_Password", tested it on the webgui and it works, saved it for good now. If I had it I could have saved downgrading the firmware which took time and now upgrading it back to B12. At this point, since I had to open the router anyway, I took it in case I'll sell the router.
I'm back on OpenWrt now and all is good

Now my original problem:
I'm trying to get the MF286D FXS ports to work with a Fritzbox 7590, connected to its analogue phone line (FXO) port.
If I connect an analogue phone to the MF286D calls work both ways, but with the Fritzbox only incoming calls work. The problem is (I think) that the dial tone coming from MF286D is taken by the FB as a busy tone (it sounds like it, only with longer tones and silences), so the FB doesn't initiate calls.
I found this post suggesting it's a Swedish dial tone, but the one on my MF286D isn't, I've checked the Swedish dial tone on an old Cisco voice gateway and it's a continuous tone.
I've tried an adb shell to the modem but couldn't find any relevant configuration.
Do you know if it's is possible to change the dial tone with adb or an AT command? An actual Swedish tone would likely be OK.

Na oprogramowaniu ZTE jaki na OpenWRT nie świeci mi się dioda POWER (od włączonego zasilania)

Ciao, I didn't check that on the TIM firmware, as when I bought the router (second hand about 2 years ago) I had a data only SIM (the 100GB one that Wind used to provide with fibre contracts, I used it as a backup) and I didn't think I would ever use the router for voice. I flashed OpenWrt straight on it and never looked back.
With my skillset (I'm a networking tech, not a programmer) I probably wouldn't be able to build a safe and working image to install anyway, even if it were possible.
I've taken a look via adb and the file that seems to hold the modifiable configuration /etc_rw/ztembb/configs/2860 has no references to FXS, dial tones or similar. It's probably hardcoded somewhere, and this could have been done on purpose to limit the VoLTE to normal domestic usage, eg. analogue and cordless phones, and prevent more advanced setups. Anyways if anyone disagrees with that or has any better ideas please go ahead
P.S. The tone you had on yours was a continuous or intermittent tone?

I let the router auto upgrade from B12 to B14 right before installing openwrt, to discover later that qmi doesn't work 
Is there a way to revert the modem firmware to B12 (preferably from openwrt)?

Ale *101# też nie działa. Daje pustą linię zamiast stanu konta
Dla abonamentowej karty Play działa: " Biezace saldo niezaplaconych faktur i kwoty wydanej poza abonamentem wynosi 0.00zl- ; No further user action required "
Czyli problem może być z tekstem np. jego długością?
Tak samo w orange nie działa *124*# też pusta linia leci

To "7" na końcu odpowiedzi jest problemem. i 7 i 15 to kodowanie GSM 7bit, tyle ze 15 jest domyślne a 7 to starsza wersja standardu. sms_tool dla ussd obsługuje tylko 15.
Zobaczę wieczorem czy mogę 7 zdekodować poprawnie

I suppose it only works with the original firmware so I should revert mtd8 and mtd9?
Then where do I find B02 to flash it with framework?

I flashed back mtd8 and mtd9 so I could use the zte update framework.
I obtained it from here, which supposedly contains a firmware downgrade from b14 to b12, but it doesn't work (framework complains about "Invalid selected version" which is mentioned in the tutorial where it says to apply the "nordic to nordic" upgrade that I cannot find
Edit: ouch, I didn't see your reply, I'm downloading everything from megaupload, which framework update should I try first?
Edit2: I tried every available folder from that megaupload download and all of them say "Invalid selected version"
