Temat: MF286D OpenWRT stuck on default APN

Hello,

Sorry if this was covered before, but I could not find a solution. Also, sorry for English.

I have successfully upgraded my (Three UK) ZTE MF286D to OpenWRT using the framework and also upgraded the modem from B02 to B12, however it seems stuck on the default (three.co.uk) APN, as such I can't use this router with a different operator.

I noticed this was mentioned by Pawol[1], but a solution is not obvious.

What I tried so far and failed:
1 - changed apn setting with qmi proto in /etc/config/network
2 - tried to change APN with AT commands
3 - switched to using modemmanager, even tried to create a new bearer, probably did some mistakes there

Nothing got me to connect to another operator (EE).

Any pointers?

chat -t 3 -e '' 'AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","3internet"' OK >> /dev/ttyUSB1 < /dev/ttyUSB1

Without spaces, exactly that command, don't add spaces etc. And show again AT+CGDCONT?

I am not from that forum. I just posted the same problem there, alas no replies, thanks god for this one. smile

Anyway, here's the result. I guess it doesn't look good. BTW I have the EE SIM inside, not the Three one.

Error? Try AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","3internet" in picocom. And show
AT+CLCK=?
AT+CLCK?

Amazing, it works (with modemmanager).  Thanks!
I have successfully set the "everywhere" (EE) APN and auth info.
It has connected, so far so good.

Can you recommend any resources for learning these AT commands? They seem such voodoo.

Use "at manual" from any zte modem (modems implements some subset of AT). But there is not available manual for mf286d.

BTW, I've found this is better:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP",""

Ie just leave out the APN altogether, allow the user to set from the UI.

For AT command reference, this might be helpful: https://www.yantrr.com/wp-content/uploa … s_V2.5.pdf - most of Qualcoomm-based ZTE modems share the same set of commands.
I've seen one from ZM8620 (one from MF283) somewhere on the internet, this should be pretty close as well.
