Hello,
one question regarding building openwrt 23.05 Snapshot. Has someone already tried it?
I´m having an issue with this build > i´m missing 2,4 Ghz WLAN device, i find only: Qualcomm Atheros IPQ4019 802.11ac/n. or did i miss something when trying to build?
many thanks

MiG25 napisał/a:I don't remember well , but could be ,that modem have not connected a reboot line with router it self ( so reboot of router don't make modem reboot) , but from other way there is (if you reset only modem , also router will reboot).
How do you rebooting it ?
Maybe only simple "ifup wan" will do the job without rebooting ?
If not ,try to do reset modem with command "echo -e -n 'AT+CFUN=1,1\r' > /dev/ttyUSB1" ( or any other good ttyUSBx ) - probably also router will reboot.
Hi,
thanks for feedback:
at the moment i reboot with a scheduled task:
10 6 * * * sleep 70 && touch /etc/banner && reboot
i tried already with ifdown wwan && ifup wwan, but did not solve the issue.
i´ll try it with reset modem command and give feeback.
EDIT: tried it, router has rebooted, got new ip address and has enabled all frequenies, as expected.
many thanks @mig25

Hello,
one question regarding rebooting device:
i have changed my openwrt from 22.03 to nightly build with DSA switch, because i need also vlans. Its working so far without issues. The only issue i recognized is when rebooting device it seems the modem itself does not reboot.
i have the situation, my device lose some frequencies overnight (i think because the provider is doing some energy saving overnight). in the morning the device is only connected with 800 mhz. i have scheduled a daily reboot. with 22.03 i did not see an issue, after reboot all frequencies are back and also ip changes of wan port. after changing to nightly build i added also the device reboot, but frequencies are not back and also ip on wan port does not change.
is this a known behavior?
i have solved this issue by adding a smart plug, and scheduled a power off/on, but its noticeable, and maybe someone can verify this behavior?

HI,

MiG25 napisał/a:There can be a simply problem with antennas ( i.e. broken socet for external antenna with not passing the signal to internal antenna).
B618 is a cat.11 lte device , it can aggregate only 2 bands .... Normally ,if MF289F aggregates one ore band should be at least equal or faster...
Hi,
played around the last days with my device(s). After reflashing i recognized the performances was eqal to B616. So i reflashed Openwrt 22.03 and saw my issue was gone. maybe i created some issue when playing around with VLAN and tried to get it up and running..

Hello together,
i have an issues with download performance on MF289F with Openwrt:
If i make a speedtest, i have only between 8 and 10 MBit Download, and 20 MBit Upload (80/20 mbit theoretical possible).
i have also a Huawei B618S-22d. If i use this device i have between 30 and 60 MBit download and 20 MBit upload - is there a problem with frequencies on ZTE Device, or maybe another issue on my device?
One further question regarding ZTE MF289F and ZTE MF289D - whats the difference between this devices?
many thanks

hi,
thanks for your help.
should i also answer in git issue after testing?

If everything working, add tested-by in this PR: https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/11044
Hi @Cezary,
not sure what is necessary to provide the correct tag. has this to be done by git?

HI,
some further questions:
i have enabled DYNDNS (did not configure, but copied the existing config file) but after reboot DYNDNS config does not load, but after reload everything does work as expected.
is it possible to change DNS server on virtual dyamic interface (dhcp client)?
it seems VLAN is not working - is this a known issue on this platform?
br
Chris
Hi,
reflashed with openwrt build, internet is working added additional packages.
one thing i´m confussed about:
tried to add vlan in switch, but nothing happened in the gui. also see the message on cpu0 and cpu1 is untagged in multiple vlans. checked it on other devices (archer c7) verified cpu config, and cpu is tagged - is this correct in huawei switch (untagged)?
also after refreshing the page, all added vlans are visible in gui.
maybe you can verify it.

Hi,
ok - i see my issue. Its a polish image...
have flashed it, and its hard to find the correct default password if you work with a translator.
maybe you can help to to login (default pw), i´ll flash the normal openwrt image, and add packages manually.
many thx

Hi,
many thanks - i have seen there is also a mifi build - i think i can also use this version and give feedback?

Hi,
i´ll also test. is there maybe an image, or do i have to build it myself. if yes, i only build nightly builds until yet, how can i build this version?

MiG25 napisał/a:So hopully when you place modem with internall antenas in hermetic box and put it outside instead external antennas , can be better.
But ofcourse distance to tower should not be like more then 2km... In other case proffesionall directional outside antenna dedicated to only one band can give much better results.. ( but in such case results will not vary ,if it will be router cat.4 or cat.20)...
In case i´ll add further antennas, do you have information what connectors i can use from board?
thx
MiG25 napisał/a:tango38317 napisał/a:Cezary napisał/a:BTW you can add "option dhcp 0" in wan section. wan will get address directly from qmi, not via dhcp.
Hi,
in the meantime i was able to restart WAN device with active "option dhcp 0", now the PUBIP is located on the WAN (QMI Cellular) device. No further Dynamic Virtual DHCP Device is available.
In this case ou will not get new IP when lease time ends , you have to have some watchdog to restart connection....
HI,
thanks for advisory, i´ll have a look whats the easiest solution for me

MiG25 napisał/a:tango38317 napisał/a:this is a 4CA device, with 4 internal antenna.
No , this device ( like MF286D) have 5 internal antennas....
From my several tests on different routers ,much better results you get when you simply put router in hermetic box in place ( and instead) of external antenna.
1st becouse it will be hard to place 5 external antennas ( even when thre are 2 in one for MIMO 2x2) ,also becouse of costs , and second on each meter of antenna cable you have losses , higher then frequency is higher.
HI,
thanks for your update - i´ll test it. with my old modem the results with external antenna was much better (up to 50 MBIT with external antenna, 2-4 mbit with internal antenna) -but antenna is outside of house, and on top of roof.
i´m living on a moutain (in the back of beyond...).

@Cezary,
i think, you have had a deeper look into the device.
this is a 4CA device, with 4 internal antenna. my device is located in cellar, and i have an external antenna, so i cannot use full capabilities of the device. as i saw it should be possible to add further external anntenas with a small rebuild - but do you know what connector on boar i can use to connect further antennas to this device?
thx

Leo-PL napisał/a:Although it doesn't look like wan_4 is assigned to the zone from LuCI, it inherits 'wan' zone indeed, you can see that in 'ifstatus wan_4'.
Hi Leo-PL,
verified it, you are right, Zone seems to be correct, and only view in Luci is not correct
"data": {
"zone": "wan",
"dhcpserver": "PUBIP",
"hostname": "fw",
"leasetime": 7200,
"zone": "wan"

Cezary,
i i added "option dhcp 0" into wan section, but i´ll reboot my device when i´m back home.. if something goes wrong i´ll get trouble with my family :-)
Cezary napisał/a:wan_4 (with dhcp) is dynamically created by qmi handler, and qmi zone is "proper" for for firewall zone.
Polish ISPs block incoming traffic and maybe the same is true for you. In Poland, you first need to purchase a special service (often called "vpn" or "public ip") for external access from internet (and port forwarding).
Hi,
in AT you need not to purchase a special service, we can request a public ip and use it for publishing services. i´m able to publish it on my existing Huawei modem, i see the public ip on WAN_4, but WAN_4 does not have a zone, and i´m also not able to assign a zone to WAN_4 - i i try to edit i receive following error:
TypeError
Cannot read properties of null (reading '.name')
If you place mouse on the device wan_4 you see the message: no zone assigned.
In the meantime i found my issue:
forgot to enable DynDNS Client to update ip :-)
tried also to add the WAN_4 interface manually (etc/config/firewall) > that was successfull, but undo this change, and try to make further tests with default config.
br
Chris.
Hi,
i installed latest nightly build, and the device is working without issues.
only one question regarding the dynamic dhcp interface created after changing the WAN device to QMI Cellular.
The WAN Device with protocol Virtual dynamic interface (DHCP) is not assigned to a firewall zone, and i´m not able to edit this interface. i think this is the reason why i´m not able to configure port forwards.
is this an expected behavior, or did i something wrong, and how can i assign the device to the correct firewall zone?
many thanks
Chris
Hello @cezary,
do you plan to release an prebuild image also for ZTE MF289F?
Tried to translate https://eko.one.pl/?p=easyconfig with google translate... but its not possible...
find your prebuild image amazing.

if device is working i can also try to flash latest version you have added in this forum.

Remove option pincode from config (if exists)?
OK - additional reboot was required - after reboot sim goes online, and public ip is there.
I found this version in this blog: https://dl.eko.one.pl/test/openwrt-ipq4 … pgrade.bin
any special to test?
