Is anyone familiar with JTAG?

I have a GoFlexHome dock which does not respond when switched on. I have been advised that I may be able to recover it using JTAG. There is an explanation of the procedure here - https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/seagate/goflexnet

but I don't understand the wiring diagram. Can anyone help explain? I don't know where pins 8 and 9 on GoFlex connect to on Bus Pirate.

kwboot does not work on this system.

As far as wiring goes, I thought the Goflex Home unit was only attached to the Bus Pirate.... it turns out that only certain pins should be attached to the BP, others have to be attached to a USB-TTL cable, so the PC uses two USB connections.
